100 out of 8,000 children in Stolipinovo neighbourhood in Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv have not been immunised against measles. They are to be immediately vaccinated. This became clear after a meeting of representatives of the Health Ministry with local authorities to discuss the organization to curb the disease's spread. Experts reassured that currently, there is definitely no epidemic of measles in Plovdiv.
Eight people are in the infectious diseases clicnic in Plovdiv diagnosed with measles or suspected of having measles. The two-year old child who was first admitted for treatment, will be discharged. The other patients are still undergoing treatment and in five of the cases, the diagnosis has not been confirmed. Health inspectors have undertaken measures and non-immunised relatives of those who are already ill will be vaccinated.
