The dialogue between Bulgaria and the United States of America in the area of health care should be brought to a long-term strategic level, this was discussed by the Bulgarian Minister of Health Kiril Ananiyev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA, Herro Mustafa on February 11. The two noted that there is no bilateral agreement in the area of health care so far.
E-health, the pharmaceutical industry and emergency services are among areas where Bulgaria and the US can co-operate, it was made clear during the meeting. Ambassador Herro Mustafa said that the US is ready to provide any kind of support in the field of e-health.
According to her, US companies are interested in programmes for early prevention of HIV, hepatitis and tuberculosis, cancer therapies and other healthcare areas.
Ambassador Herro Mustafa congratulated Minister Ananiev on the first successful centralized electronic auction for the purchase of medicines, which the Ministry of Health held last month. She invited Kiril Ananiev to participate in the Global e-Health Forum, which will be held in the US.
Health Minister and Ambassador Herro Mustafa also agreed that more leading Bulgarian experts should be involved in various US health care programmes.
