The eco tax rate for cars older than 5 years will increase by 3%, Bulgaria’s government decided on 6th of April. The fixed levy on cars which are older than 10 years will be 275 BGN upon purchase of the car or by 8 BGN more.
According to official data, there are 3,900,000 cars registered in the country, at the average age of 16 years.
As a result of the newly introduced charges, the ecotax rate for new cars will decrease by 5%, i.e. by 8 BGN.
The biggest incentive is aimed at those who are willing to buy electric cars as the levy for them will drop by 30% and becomes 102 BGN.
