A team of investigators sent by order of Bulgaria’s chief prosecutor is carrying out an investigation on-site in the military plant “Arsenal” in the town of Kazanlak to identify the cause of the incident in which two workers died in a fire on 25th of April.
So far, it has been found that an operational accident occurred in the workshop, in which a spark ignited gunpowder ingredients. The two workers who were killed were in one of the rooms, and four other workers, in another room, managed to evacuate. They told the investigators they saw a cloud of fire before they managed to escape. They will be further interviewed today or later tomorrow, depending on their condition. Currently, they are in a strong shock.
Two assessments have been appointed on the case: a forensic assessment in order to identify the cause of the death of the two workers and a technical assessment to identify whether there were machine defects.
