Judicial council holds hearing of Ivan Geshev for the post of chief prosecutor

Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council on October 24 holds a hearing of Ivan Geshev as candidate for the post of Chief Prosecutor.

The sitting was opened at 10.00 by the Minister of Justice Danail Kirilov.

The procedure for election of Chief Prosecutor was opened on 15 July 2019.

Ivan Geshev was proposed by all 11 members of the Prosecutor's College. No other proposals for the post have been made.

The vote on his nomination takes place amid a series of protests in Sofia – one against and one in support of the election of Ivan Geshev as Chief Prosecutor.
