Speaking at a press conference after the announcement of the first exit poll results after Bulgaria’s October 27 local elections, MP Kiril Dobrev from opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) said that he was confident that the BSP was returning to local goverment.
We have almost doubled the support for the party since 2015,” Dobrev said. He added that BSP was heading to a second round of the local elections in 15 major cities.
I express my respect and deep gratitude to the members, supporters and everyone who participated in the BSP campaign. Their efforts did not go in vain, Dobrev said.
According to the exit polls results, BSP is going for a run-off in 15 major cities. We are the first political force in several of them. GERB's iconic fortresses cracked. This is a clear sign that the citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria want change, Dobrev said.
Dobrev urged a strong voter turnout at the second round of the local elections. He emphasized that the low voter turnout had strengthened the corporate-controlled vote and vote-buying.
