Unit 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant was reconnected to Bulgaria’s national electricity grid at 10:54 on 16 December following the replacement of a defective safety device.
The unit had been shut down as a precaution yesterday after it was deemed necessary to replace a protective membrane device on the turbine’s steam superheater separator, located in the conventional, non-nuclear part of the unit. The required maintenance was carried out in accordance with established technical service and repair procedures, with all prescribed checks completed.
In line with the plant’s operational regulations, the output of Unit 6 will be gradually increased.
Unit 5 continues to operate according to schedule.
