Dozens of trains are running late due to the complicated winter conditions on February 6. Ten other trains are stuck at the stations. The most critical is the situation in the direction Sofia-Varna through Gorna Oryahovitsa and in the region of Mezdra.
In addition to the blocked trains, there are currently 30 trains that suspended service. The movement of the others takes place in extremely difficult winter conditions.
BDZ reports that there are 11 stations in the direction Sofia-Pleven and Sofia-Vidin, where there is no power supply.
Work is being done to ensure that food and water is delivered to blocked passengers.
Particularly critical is the situation at Mezdra station, where no train has arrived from or left in the direction of Sofia, Varna or Vidin for the latest several hours. Many people did not manage to go to work, others sought alternative transport. The reason is the fall of a contact network in the area of Roman, Kumino, Zverino and Lakatnik.
Hundreds of passengers were blocked on the trains.
All teams of the national company “Railway Infrastructure” have been mobilized to restore traffic. Where there is snow, teams clear the rails by hand.
