Healthcare sector in Bulgaria will be provided with additional BGN 250 mln to rise medics' payment. The sum is intended for further rise of pay as well as for new medical equipment and more personal protective equipment in hospitals.
Those measures were announced earlier on Tuesday by Prof. Kostadin Angelov, the newly appointed minister of health.
As of August 1st, 2020 the medics' monthly pay will be risen by 30 percent and this will be valid for the remaining 5 months of the year. It is not yet clear if it will be in force for 2021. The total of BGN 12.4 mln are planned to be dispensed among 6000 medical workers.
Some BGN 19 mln are intended for community hospitals. Forty-four hospitals with units for treatment of infectiuos diseases are to receive a total of BGN 9,5 mln. BGN 2 mln are to be administered to hospitals for treatment of specific and nonspecific lung diseases or of mental illnesses.
