More than 1,800 machines are ready to treat roads across the country to ensure safe travel for drivers when snowfall begins, the Road Infrastructure Agency reports on December 3. Mountain passes’ structures and pavements are treated to prevent icing, where the conditions for slippery and icy conditions are greater.
The maintenance of 20,000 km of national roads during the winter months will include about 3,000 snow clearing machines - snow plows, salt/sand spreaders and more. The storages areas have the necessary amounts of salt, sand and chemicals and machines to take measures when the first snow falls.
Road Infrastructure agency advises drivers who are planning to travel through mountain passes not to use summer tires and to adjust speed to the weather conditions.
