More than 600,000 Russian tourists visited the Bulgarian Black Sea coast last summer, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria Anatoly Makarov said during a meeting with the Mayor of Bulgaria's Black Sea coastal city of Bourgas, Dimitar Nikolov, on 21st of March.
According to the Russian diplomat, the region has great potential for development of alternative tourism - religious, historical, ecological. The expectations are to keep the trend towards an increase in the number of Russian tourists in Bulgaria and a parallel increase in the number of Russian citizens who buy properties in Bourgas region Makarov said as quoted in the statement of Bourgas municipality.
The ambassador and the mayor discussed the possibility of establishing new transport links to boost tourism and economic relations between Russia and Bourgas region.
Earlier in Bourgas, business representatives from the two countries had a meeting and discussed opportunities to boost the export of traditional Bulgarian products. They also discussed bureaucratic hurdles that businesses face, there were specific proposals to facilitate the procedures.
