The municipal chairpersons of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) in Haskovo District (Southern Bulgaria) are withdrawing their political trust in Elena Yoncheva.
Four years after the journalist was nominated by the Socialists of Haskovo region as an MP, and two years ago as an MEP, members of the district structure withdrew their political trust from her, an official statement said on October 5.
The chairpersons of the municipal party organizations from Haskovo District said that they confidently stand behind the position of the young socialists from the region and, like them, are unpleasantly surprised by the statements of the MEP Elena Yoncheva, circulated in the last month.
"Now that the whole party has raised its eyes confidently and stood behind the changes defended by direct election of chairperson and confirmed at the jubilee 50th BSP Congress, there is nothing better than unity in the battle for truth and the will to work selflessly for the supremacy of the law in our country and the better future of Bulgaria for all ", the Haskovo municipal chairpersons write in the document.
They point out that they were surprised by Elena Yoncheva: "She seems to have forgotten our joint efforts, which we all, not without the active participation of BSP chairwoman Kornelia Ninova, made in order the voice of the truth against corruption and the leading role of GERB in its merging with the state to be heard through her”.
The statement also says: "You cannot be close and trust our community only when we stand like a wall behind you and trust you that you can protect our messages and forget this when someone else tickles your ego. They say that war eats away what is accumulated during peace. War has eyes neither for the steps walked together nor for the useful lessons learned from them "
The socialists from Haskovo are adamant in their declaration: "We unanimously take away our political trust from Elena Yoncheva."
