The price of natural gas will go up by nearly 2% in October due to the increase in the tariffs of the transmission operator - the state-owned Bulgartransgaz. This was explained by Bulgaria’s Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova after the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers on 30th of August.
She said that the increase was due to the adoption of a new methodology in line with European rules. The methodology foresees that the prices for gas transmision will be determined in accordance with Bulgartransgaz's costs.
The big enterprises in Bulgaria opposed the new increase in gas prices last week. Later on 30th of August, minister Petkova will meet with representatives of Bulgartransgaz, Bulgargas and the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission in order to fully clarify the situation.
