The growth rate is 7.6%. We have succeeded in building upon record-breaking achievements since 2016 and last year we have also achieved an increase in the number of foreign visitors, Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said on 29th of January. She added that these are the visible results of the ministry's efforts to attract guests during the four seasons. This year, our target is the number of foreign tourists to reach 10 million, which is fully achievable, she said.
The top ten markets for foreign tourists are also reporting a rise. The largest number of tourists come from Greece, more than 1.157 million last year and by 8.5% more than a year earlier. Over 1,139 million Romanian tourists visited Bulgaria in 2017. Thus, Romania ranked second among the leading markets, with an increase of almost 4%.
