The construction of the border facility at Bulgaria’s border with Turkey on the territory of Yambol district has been completed, the district governor Dimitar Ivanov said on 30th of May. The wire fence is 35 km long. The construction of the road along the facility is also finished.
The security installation has been built from stronger and more resistant materials in comparison to the 30 km section built earlier by the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence, the district governor explained. The fence is made up of two rows of wire and is 3 m high. For the time being, there are no attempts to breach it or jump over it.
The contractor provides a 5-year warranty on the facility, he added.
The purpose of the new facility is to help the border police and military in guarding the state border, Ivanov said.
