Another protest by medical specialists was was staged in Sofia on December 16. Fifiteen protesters spent the night in 10 tents in front of the Council of Ministers building and threatened to remain in them until they were received for a meeting by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
The protesting nurses have been outside the CoM since noon on Sunday. They described the system as "dangerous for the health" and are adamant that they will remain here until they are accepted by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
Maya Ilieva, trade union of medical specialists: We are patient, we are nurses after all, we work on night shifts, we are used to poor working conditions, so we will stay in tents. There are some commitments undertaken that, in fact, no one guarantees that they will be fulfilled, so we want to meet with Mr Borissov.
Nadezhda Marginova, Nurse: We went in all the institutions and met representatives of these institutions, on which some solution to our problems depends. We only were welcomed with understanding and sympathy, but no real action was taken. This is now the last institution to make it aware of our demands and especially the problems in the healthcare in the country.
Medical professionals insist that there should not companies in the area of healthcare. The say theit salary should be equal to two minimum wages. They also want return of more young professionals from abroad.
