The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) on January 20 filed a motion of no confidence against the government over failure in environment and water policy. The motives include the water crisis, air polution and problems with waste.
The motion was signed by 78 left-wing MPs. The MRF said they would support the vote in the plenary and will add own arguments.
BSP stresses that water restriction were introduced for half a million Bulgarians due to water shortages. Among the arguments against the cabinet are the dirty air and the import of waste to the country.
The ruling GERB is adamant that the vote will not be successful. According to the opposition, the vote will also show who is the opposition in this Parliament.
Kornelia Ninova, BSP leader: This would another result of the vote - to make it clear who wants to overthrow Borissov's cabinet and who uses the situation for personal or party benefits on the back of the ongoing genocide against the Bulgarian people.
Alexander Nenkov, GERB: The vote of no confidence will not pass. GERB together with the United Patriots (minority partner in the ruling coalition) will fulfill their governance programme, which we signed up 3 years ago and will complete our term in office. The coalition is stable.
