Three people have been detained after pitbull killed a 3-year-old child in the village of Mokrishte in Pazardzhik on 29th of January. The District Prosecutor's Office in Pazardzhik has begun an investigation into the case. The owners of the pitbull face five years of imprisonment. Specialised teams found that the pitbull lived in miserable conditions. The dog was not chipped, not vaccinated and dewormed.
It is unclear what triggered the the aggressive behaviour, Director of Regional Directorate of Food Safety in Pazardjik, Petko Mitev, said.
Institutions are trying to find out what happened. Relatives of the child admitted that he often was on his own. It is unclear what happened and whether the child was alone when the dog mauled him to death.
The District Prosecutor's Office has begun proceedings as regards the way the dog was raised.
