Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on 3rd of October that he and his government would resign on 6th of November if his party’s candidate lost the first round of presidential elections that day. Borissov was firm that Tsetska Tsacheva, GERB’s presidential candidate and Plamen Manushev, the candidate for Vice-President were the most prepared and appropriate candidates for the presidential institution.
“If GERB loses these elections at the first round, that same evening we will resign, because it is at the first round when the parties are really competing. After that, at the second round, they are seeking support, and people do not come out to vote, “ he said.
Borissov refused to say who would be the next speaker of the Parliament should Tsacheva be elected as President.
