PM: If President vetoes the state of emergency, I’ll pull GERB out of Parliament

In response to the President's statement about the state of emergency today (April 3), Prime Minister Boyko Borissov told reporters in the southern Bulgarian city of Smolyan: "If the President believes the state of emergency in the country is different from what is being done worldwide, he can veto it, then I will pull GERB out of Parliament, so that the veto can go through and leave the people without a state of emergency, to perish."

This is ludicrous, the PM added.

Social isolation is the only measure so far applied in the whole world which has an impact on the spread of the coronavirus said Borissov.

The European Commission approved the "60/40" formula for support for business and hundreds of Bulgarian companies have already applied, he said in response to the President's criticism.

PM Borissov and Gen. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, head of the national coronavirus task force, visited a car parts plant based in Smolyan. The plant has started making protective goggles and face shields for the front-line health workers and other specialists.
