At a meeting with ambassadors on September 11, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said the “Three Seas” regional initiative should be established as a tool for social and economic cohesion in Europe.
He pointed out that the spirit of this cooperation platform is to promote the conditions for connectivity and prosperity of the countries between the Adriatic, Baltic and Black Seas.
The Bulgarian head of state noted that for the full and effective development of "Three Seas" initiative it is important that all countries in the format contribute to the investment fund of the initiative, which will finance the construction of joint regional projects.
The possibility of Bulgaria hosting the “Three Seas” meeting next year was discussed.
Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva also met with the ambassadors. She briefly presented the projects with which Bulgaria is involved in the initiative - reconstruction of the Rousse-Varna railway line; construction of a tunnel under the Petrohan pass; expansion of the underground gas storage in the village of Chiren and construction of the Black Sea motorway to connect Bourgas and Varna.
