President signed the decrees to dissolve the 48th National Assembly and to appoint a caretaker cabinet

On the basis of Article 99(5) of the Constitution, President Rumen Radev on February 2 signed a decree dissolving the 48th National Assembly on 3 February 2023. The Head of State scheduled parliamentary elections for 2 April 2023.

By another decree, the Head of State appoints a caretaker government from 3 February 2023.

All the current ministers keep their posts except the Minister of Culture. The conductor Naiden Todorov has been appointed to replace Velislav Minekov. Todorov was director of the opera in Rousse, and since 2017 he has been director of the Bulgarian Philharmonic.
