Just a day after the early parliamentary elections, heating and hot water prices should go up by 18% to 38% as of 1st of April and the price of electricity across the country should go up by 1%, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) proposed.
The reason for the increase was the increase of the gas price by nearly 30% as of 1st of April. So far the energy regulator has kept the prices unchanged despite that the gas price went up in October and again in January.
The increase in electricity price, however, is extraordinary.According to the Energy Law, electricity prices go up or down only from 1st of July.
The proposed prices will be publicly discussed tomorrow, 29th of March, before they take effect. The Regulator’s proposal the heating price in Sofia to rise by 22.7%, in Plovdiv by nearly 22%, in Burgas by 25.6%. The highest prices of heating remain in Veliko Turnovo and therefore the envisaged increase there is by about 18%.
