On 13th of October, the protesting miners from Babino pit of Bobov Dol mine declined the second proposal made by the management of the mine for gradual payment of all delayed salaries. Bulgaria’s ombudsman, Maya Manolova, went down in the mine to talk with the miners and will remain there until their salaries for August are paid.
The miners insist on immediate payment of their delayed salaries for August and September and receiving the food vouchers covering the period from March until now, in full size.
They complained that the flow of fresh air to the mine was deliberately reduced to force them to come out.
The management rejected the accusations.
The protest has been going on for third consecutive day.
15 miners came out of the mine but 10 other went down on 13th of October.
The management said they would pay the salaries as soon as they see miners going out of the mine. There is talk among the miners that there are provided funds but they think the information is not confirmed.
The people denied political interference in the protest. Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev said: "Theoretically, there should not be, but I have the right to be suspicious. Everything that is happening a few weeks before the presidential elections might not be a coincidence."
