The results of a new survey by Bulgaria’s “Alpha Research” polling agency show that 58% of the respondents believe that corruption has increased, despite progress in various spheres. Most respondents see corruption as most associated with dependencies in the judiciary system, suspicions for fuel cartel and the case of Corporate Commercial Bank.

The survey was done at the end of February among a sample of 1,700 Bulgarians.

Over 62% of the polled believe that the most serious problems are at the highest levels of the judiciary system and that magistrates, prosecutor’s office and government officials are responsible for the lack of tangible results in the fight against corruption

63% of the respondents approve the move of Bulgarian Prime minister Borissov to suspend public procurement procedures.

If parliamentary elections had been held on the day of the poll, 5 political formations would have passed the 4% election threshold and would have won the highest support from the voters: the centre-right GERB, the centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party, the centre-right Reformist Bloc, the liberal Movement for Rights and Freedoms and the nationalist alliance “Patriotic Front”, followed by centre-left ABC party and nationalist “Ataka”.

The results of another public opinion poll show that the approval ratings of Bulgaria’s courts and prosecution office have plummeted in recent months. The nation-wide survey was conducted by "Exacta Research" agency at the end of February 2016 among a sample of 1,000 Bulgarians.

The courts and the prosecution office are approved by 7% of the polled and the disapproval towards these institutions has increased by 12 - 13%.

The highest approval is for the police, army and the government. The approval rating of the Parliament is in the middle of the approval ratings of the institutions.
