The revenues from overnight stays in January this year reached 39, 4 billion BGN, which is 9% more in comparison with January 2015, Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute said on 14th of May.
The revenue from overnight stays of guests from foreign countries rose by 10.2% and the revenue from overnight stays of Bulgarians increased by 7.7%.
A total of 1,829 accommodation facilities with more than 10 beds each worked in January – hotels, motels, camping grounds, lodges and other places for short-term accommodation, offering 55,200 rooms and 111,300 beds.
The total number of overnight stays in all accommodation facilities in January 2016 is 811,700, representing an increase by 9, 4% in comparison with January 2015. The largest increase of overnight stays (by 14, 9%) is reported in 3 star accommodation facilities.
71, 8% of the total number of overnight stays by foreigners and 38,3% by Bulgarians were registered in 4 and 5 star hotels.
The overall occupancy of beds in short-term accommodation facilities is 24, 4%, registering an increase by 2,6% in comparison with January 2015. The occupancy of beds in 4 and 5 star accommodation places was the highest - 38,3%.
