Road conditions remain difficult almost everywhere in Bulgaria on February 6.
The mountain passes Shipka, Petrohan and the Pass of the Republic have been closed to traffic. The snow cover is 70 cm.
Most complicated is the situation in Razgrad (North-Eastern Bulgaria), where traffic has been restricted to all types of vehicles, including cars.
Road Infrastructure Agency advises drivers not to travel today if possible.
More than 1,200 snow ploughing machines have been working on the roads in the past 24 hours.
Many of the stranded drivers set off unprepared for driving in winter conditions or with bad tyres.
Some 500 vehicles were pulled out of the snow over the past 24 hours. Traffic police reported about 30 accidents.
Latest informations shows there are no stranded people and vehicles.
Traffic police advise drivers who are planning to travel to prepare tyre chains. They also remind that the fine for violating introduced road traffic restricts is 1,000 BGN and withdrawing of the driving license for a period of 3 months.
The winter situation is expected to get calmer in the afternoon when snowing is expected to stop.
