Bulgaria’s Road Infrastructure Agency advises motorists that the vehicles should be fitted with winter tires if they travel through mountain passes, to be cautious and drive at a speed consistent with the changing weather conditions. According to forecasts, weather is expected to get colder over the next days and the rain is possible to turn into snow.
Road maintenance companies are ready to respond as required and treat roads at an altitude above 550 m to ensure safe travel for drivers. There are the necessary quantities of salt, sand and ice-melting chemicals and machines. Road management directors will keep informed on weather forecasts by region and will take the necessary steps to ensure safety of the traffic through the mountain passes where there are conditions for slippery road surfaces and icing.
The Road Infrastructure Agency urges motorists to prepare their vehicles for driving in winter conditions.
