The ruling party GERB on February 14 proposed legislative changes that provide for an environmental impact assessment procedure, regardless of quantity, when burning waste. Currently, such a procedure is only intended for the burning of waste weighing more than 100 tonnes.
Ivelina Vassileva, from GERB explained that the procedure to be followed should be a mandatory environmental impact assessment. This is the most difficult procedure. It requires both competent opinions from environment authorities and from health inspections. This way, we guarantee preventive control, she said.
