In connection with numerous media inquiries, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 30 informed that the Russian diplomat, who had to leave Bulgaria within 24 hours, following allegations of espionage, had departed on a direct flight to Moscow with his family.
At the same time, due to the negative opinion of one of the institutions that agrees the issuance of long-term visas for diplomats, visa will not be issued to a Russian citizen, currently in Russia, who was envisaged to take up the post of Defence Attaché in the Russian Embassy in Sofia.
This is not a procedure for declaring a persona non grata, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. Russia was notified on the decision.
