More than 200 seamstresses seek assistance from the state to get their wages paid by an Austrian company that will soon be closed. The company has branches in Krichim and Stryama village in Plovdiv.
A meeting was held between the ombudsman Maya Manolova and the seamstresses on 17th of April. It went on for over an hour and a half. In an informal conversation, the Ombudsman promised them to help and make sure the law is observed so that they could get all the necessary benefits. She also managed to get in touch with the Austrian owners of the company who promised that after May 6, a new meeting would be held to assess all the details.
Seamstresses have not received salaries for March and half of April. Currently, they are in the so-called "paid stay". In order to take advantage of the new changes to the Law on secured receivables from companies that have declared bankruptcy, they should have received no pay for two months. Now, however, they have received documents in which they have to declare their consent to mutual termination of labour relations. Maya Manolova advised them not to do so.
