Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council on November 14 again holds voting on Geshev’s nomination for Chief Prosecutor...
Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council on November 14 holds a repaet voting on Geshev’s nomination for Chief Prosecutor.
On October 24, it approved Ivan Geshev as Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor. He was the only candidate for the post. Twenty members of the Supreme Judicial Council voted in favour of his nomination and four against. The nomination is subject to approval by Bulgaria's Head of State, President Rumen Radev.
On November 7, the President refused to approve the appointment of Ivan Geshev for the post of chief prosecutor and returned the proposal back to the SJC.
If Geshev wins 17 or more votes today, he will have to be appointed with a decree of the Head of State. If the votes in favour are less than 17, the procedure will start again.
