The coronavirus pandemic has affected tourism not only in Bulgaria but also abroad.

The drop in revenue is a record, but it turned out that small towns enjoy much more holiday makers than large resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

While the large hotel complexes are empty in the height of the summer season, guest houses and family hotels on the Southern Black Sea coast are fully occupied.

The largest influx is in Sozopol and Primorsko, where it is full of Bulgarian tourists. And the most sought after accommodation are guest houses and private accommodation.

The lower prices attracted many tourists. In a family hotel in Primorsko, a family of three pays BGN 55 per night including breakfast.

The restaurants on the South Black Sea coast are also overcrowded, and in some of them prior reservation is needed even at lunch time.

The crowded beaches on the Southern coast are the clearest proof of the number of tourists.

The full beaches gave birth to a new kind of service. For BGN 5, holidaymakers can book an umbrella and a sunbed on the first line, thus guaranteeing vacant seats on the beach even in the afternoon.
