“We want to change the status quo. If GERB do not manage to form a cabinet and the mandate is handed over to us, we will try to form a government," Korneliya Ninova, the leader of the centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party said in a short statement after the close of polls on 26th of March.
“We will not participate in a coalition with GERB, if invited, she said and added that the two parties had different programmes and different priorities."
Ninova congratulated the winner GERB.
"Change is a difficult process but we will not give up," she noted.
However, according to her, the voters who supported BSP showed they wanted change.
Ninova highlighted that the support for her party had doubled in comparison with the 2014 parliamentary elections. She added that for a year, the support was three times higher, confirming the results of the 2016 presidential elections when the party vote was taken into account.
