Urgent measures against air pollution in the capital city of Sofia were discussed by the Environment Committee of the Municipal Council on 16th of January. Suggestions include a "green" public transport ticket of 1 BGN per day, equivalent to a one-day card.
It was also suggested to ban entry of cars in the central city area, with even or odd numbered plates, respectively.
Another proposal was to close the whole "Blue Zone" for parking, except for residents who live there.
Legislative changes will be proposed for introduction of eco-stickers that show the environmental class of the vehicle.
The measures are expected to be voted by the Sofia Municipal Council by the end of January.
