solar trees charge mobile devices bulgaria’s burgas

The residents of the Bulgarian Black Sea coastal city of Burgas now have the opportunity to charge mobile devices or wheelchairs from solar-powered trees. They are installed at “Troikata” square, with comfortable benches under them and USB outlets available to the people who want to use them.

Architect Elim Burulyanov is behind the idea to install the solar trees and Engineer Miroslav Dimitrov implemented the project technically.

The tree-shaped solar chargers are 3D printed and have one-off futuristic design. The idea of the authors was to create an open-air office. Eng. Miroslav Dimitrov says that this is the only publicly accessible charging station in the world for wheelchairs and for various mobile devices via USB.

The idea came after an elderly lady from Burgas complained that because she used a second-hand wheel chair, the batteries kept getting exhausted too quickly and she could not allow to get too far from home. Sometimes, she needed people to help and push the chair because the batteries were dead.

For the majority of people who use electric wheelchairs, the developers of solar trees in Burgas have made charging cables, which they need to carry with them to get connected with the solar trees.

In addition to power, the solar trees also offer built-in WIFI internet.

The local authorities say they have plans to install more such trees in the centre of Burgas.
