Staff of a Rehabilitation Hospital protest in front of the Ministry of Health over salary dues

Protest in front of the Ministry of Health took place on September 8. The employees of the National Hospital for Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy in Ovcha Kupel in Sofia demand to receive their salaries. They claim that they have not been paid salaries in the past three months. Their salaries were not paid because there was not enough revenue from clinical pathways.

Subsequently, funds were provided, but the director was on sick leave and there was no one to sign the payroll.

Representatives of the workers were at a meeting with Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov. They said that if they do not receive their salaries, they would organise effective protests. The Ministry of Health announced that the board of directors of the hospital has been replaced.

The employees of the Ovcha Kupel Rehabilitation Hospital will receive their salaries at the beginning of next week at the latest. This became clear after their meeting with Minister Kostadin Angelov.

For now, the protests at the hospital will be stopped.

The new management of the hospital is expected to take office within days. Then negotiations for a Collective Labour Agreement and a possible salary increase will start.
