The municipality in the South Bulgarian city of Stara Zagora is the second municipality (after Pazardzhik) which banned the wearing in public places of garments and accessories which cover the face and obstruct identification.
The ban was adopted on 28th of April after the local municipal council passed amendments to the Ordinance on Public Order. The proposed amendments were passed on a majority vote. There were only two votes against, both from representatives of the "Movement for Rights and Freedoms".
Non-compliance with ban will be subject to a fine of up to 2,000 BGN.
