Increased security measure are being taken for New Year in Sofia. Additional police teams will be deployed the the centre of the capital city and near the refugee centres.
Checkpoints will be built at the Knyaz Alexander Battenberg Square, where the New Year concert will take place. There will be two lines of technical equipment and 12 gendarmerie teams. They will take care of the security around the stage at the square.
The access checkpoints will be 8. People are required not to carry sharp objects, pyrotechnics and guns, umbrellas and glass bottles.
Police presence will be increased at main underground stations "St. Kliment Ohridski" and "Serdika", both outside and underground. Security officials will also be helped by newly formed tactical teams in connection with the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
