Following a meeting between Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communication, Ivailo Moskovski, and representatives of protesting Bulgarian road hauilers and tour operators on 25th of April, the transport minister said that the blockade of the border with Greece would be called off.
Bulgarian road hauliers were planning to block the border with Greece to lorries, buses and cars traffic from 29th of April to 8th of May in retaliation for the border blockades by protesting Greek farmers in January and February 2016.
Minister Moskovski said that a declaration would be adopted with a last warning to the Greek farmers, saying that in the event of a new blockade on the Greek side, the Bulgarian road hauliers will respond with reciprocal actions.
For the time being, the declaration is signed by the tour operators and is expected to be supported by other industries.
The declaration will be presented to the Greek ambassador in Bulgaria, Moskovski added.
