Dimitar Kostadinov, who was accused of beating an emergency doctor in the town of Pazardzhik, South Bulgaria, will remain in custody, the court ruled on 31st of October.
His defence lawyer said Kostadinov was accused unjustly.
In court, prosecutor Roumyana Petrova was firm that there were irrefutable evidence of offence. According to the prosecution, Dimitar Kostadinov inflicted two blows in the head of the emergency doctor Gergana Ancheva and then attacked a security guard in the hospital.
According to the defence, the intemperate behaviour of the young man had been provoked by the inaction of the doctors, who were delayed at helping a victim of a car accident - his cousin. However, the Court did not accept this argument and imposed the most severe measure.
Earlier on 31st of October, before the court sitting, about 80 friends and relatives gathered in front of the building of the court in the town of Pazardhik to support Dimitar Kostadinov. The protesters were convinced that Dimitar was provoked by the rude attitude of the doctor Gergana Ancheva. Other residents also joined the protest. They say they are not friends of Dimitar, but also experienced rude attitude from medical workers.
On 28th of October, medical workers from the hospital in the town of Pazardzhik staged a protest because of the incident involving the attack on the doctor from the emergency ward.
