TISP: "Democratic Bulgaria" and "Rise up! We are Coming!" to rethink their positions, it now depends on them whether talks on proposed government will continue

Slavi Trifonov’s “There is Such a People” (TISP) party gave a sharp response to “Democratic Bulgaria” and “Rise up BG! We are Coming!” in relation to their stance on the future of talks on a proposed government. Speaking in Parliament on July 29, Toshko Yordanov of TISP criticised the behaviour of the two protest parties in the recent days.

He made heavy attacks on caretaker Finance Minister, Assen Vassilev, and said that they were expecting "Democratic Bulgaria" and "Rise up! We are Coming!" to rethink their positions, because it now depends on them whether the talks will continue.

"There is Such a People" described as "a greasy lie" that behind their proposed cabinet could be seen the "long arm of GERB and MRF (the Movement for Rights and Freedoms).

The party gave a briefing from Parliament.

In a statement on July 28, “Democratic Bulgaria” co-leader Hristo Ivanov said that the coalition insisted that the names of the candidate ministers be announced so that policies could be discussed with them and they could make commitments to implementing the policies.

"We are waiting for TISP to propose a cabinet, to give the formula. And we will decide whether to support it. We push the country to nominate a government that can bring change. We have not given up trying to get a government, instead of getting an answer, we have received attacks, we want a clear political commitment. Without a clear political commitment, we are talking about a cat in a sack. If someone wants our support, he should find a way to announce the proposed ministers. There were free talks, not negotiations. Negotiations mean a clear political end. Talks continue.

On July 28, Maya Manolova, head of the “Rise Up Bulgaria! We’re Coming” parliamentary group said that “Democratic Bulgaria” and TISP are pushing Bulgaria towards new elections.

“People expect a government in which GERB and MRF have no influence. We will not support a cabinet that shows the long arm of GERB and the MRF,” Manolova said.

We insist on an agreement with TISP, which sets out the policies we stand for with a clear commitment that the participation of GERB-MRF, their friendly circles and their oligarchic circles will not be allowed in the next government," she said.
