Traffic restrictions were temporarily in place through the Passage of the Republic due to heavy snowfall and snow clearing on February 5. Shortly after 11 a.m., the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) reported that traffic was restored to all vehicles.
Due to heavy snowfall and clearing, traffic was temporarily restricted for heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 12 tonnes with trailers and semi-trailers through the passes "Prevala" and "Rozhen", as well as on the national roads in the municipalities of Dospat, Borino and Devin in Smolyan district, Southern Bulgaria.
Tyre chains are mandatory for drving through the passages "Rozhen", "Pamporovo" and "Prevala" due to heavy snowfall.
