The two large wild fires in Bulgaria’s Rila Mountain have been extinguished. Teams of the Fire Fighting Service and Southwestern State Enterprise on October 29 remain on duty on site.
However, the fire in Stara Planina Mountain (Balkan Mountains) continues to burn for third day in a row.
The fire occurred in the late afternoon on Sunday and reached the border with Serbia. Mostly shrubs and dry grasses are burning on Bulgarian territory. The forest in the area is also partially affected.
The area is difficult to access, so the fire can only be reached by all-terrain vehicles. Firefighters, foresters and volunteers took part in the extinguishing.
Fire fighters from Serbia are involved in the extinguishing.
Two Bulgarian helicopters also joined the firefighting efforts.
