UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on October 29 announced the penalties it imposes on Bulgaria over fans racist behaviour in the stadium during the October 14 England-Bulgaria football match.
The UEFA’s body has decided to order the Bulgarian Football Union to play behind closed doors the next two (2) matches that will be played by its A representative team as host association in a UEFA competition, the second of which being suspended during a probationary period of two (2) years as from the date of the present decision, for the racist behaviour of its supporters, the EUFA statement reads.
So, Bulgaria will play the Euro 2020 qualifier against the team of the Check republic on November 17 behind closed doors.
UEFA also orders the Bulgarian Football Union to pay a fine of €75,000 for the racist behaviour of its supporters and the throwing of objects and €10,000 for causing disturbance during a national anthem.
The BFU was quick to point out that the hard work of the administration and the permanent fight against xenophobia have prevented more severe penalties.
