The cabinet will stay in office and the PM remains the same, Vice Premier Valery Simenov told BNT after the special meeting of the ruling Coalition council.
The Coalition council gathered Thursday to discuss the future of the government following the PM's statement of yesterday that he is inclined to step down and that would be one of the suggestions to be offered to the United Patriots, GERB's coalition partners.
On Wednesday at the national convention of GERB the PM and party leader Boyko Borissov declared that he had prepared different proposals for the other members of the ruling coalition. However, Borissov expressed his firm conviction to keep the cabinet save till the end of term in March 2021.
Socialist Kornelia Ninova, leader of the largest parlimantary faction, announced that a petition is initiated for emergency sitting of the National Assembly on Monday, August 10.
The petition insists on a PMs's plan for updating the state budget with regard to COVID pandemic and the governmental social and economic measures. Secondly, socialists require that Borissov and the Interior Minister explain the acts of aggression against journalists and protesters which occurred during the convention of the ruling party on August, 5.
