Representatives of the parliamentary group BSP – United Left commented after the overnment-forming consultations with President Rumen Radev on December 17.
The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) stated that there is no possibility for the current Parliament to form any type of government and that the party would not participate in any negotiations.
Atanas Zafirov said:
“We held a constructive and cordial discussion with the presidential institution on issues that are of major concern to Bulgarian society. We expressed shared concern about the potential failure to adopt a regular state budget. BSP – United Left continues to insist on the adoption of a regular budget with a strong social focus, as envisaged. Entering the first year of euro area membership with an extended budget would be extremely risky.”
Commenting on the positions of governing partners regarding support for the revised regular budget, Zafirov added:
“I am surprised by the lack of understanding of the expectations of Bulgarian society — this is a pivotal moment.”
