245 signals from maternity wards have been reported to the Child Protection Department in Varna last year. 124 of them are for births by teenage mothers. 46 of the juvenile girls live in the municipality of Varna, the rest are from other regions of the country.
The alerts for the child birth to teenage mothers are forwarded to the relevant directorates for risk assessment of newborns. "Support in a family environment" protection measure has been taken for 9 of the babies of under-age mothers in the municipality of Varna.
