15% drop in youth unemployment in Bulgaria over the past 5 years...
There is a 15% drop in youth unemployment in Bulgaria over the latest 5 years. Bulgaria’s social minister Bisser Petkov pointed on 18th of April that from 28% in 2013 the youth unemployment dropped to 13% in 2018.
Minister Petkov, together with European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Marianne Thyssen, presented the conclusions of the informal Council on Employment held in Sofia within the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. EU Commissioner Thyssen praised the achievement of the European Youth Guarantee programme in Bulgaria, which aims to reduce the number of unemployed youths and to engage those who are neither studying nor working.
Bulgaria is doing very well! In all member states we see that unemployed young people find jobs easier. We left the crisis behind. There is growth again. If we compare the data for the Union and for Bulgaria, we see that the percentages are getting better here in Bulgaria more than elsewhere. So I can say that the work of the government and the social partners has led to results, Marianne Thyssen said.
