An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 on Richter scale was registered in the area of the town of Strazhitsa, north-eastern Bulgaria. According to the National Seismological Centre at the Geophysical Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the earthquake occured at 16.03 Bulgarian time. The epicentre was 230 km away from Sofia.
The earthquake was felt in the area of Strazhitsa and Bulgaria’s old capital Veliko Tarnovo.
There have been several moderately strong earthquakes in the region of the town of Strazhitsa over the years. The earthquakes of 1986 caused numerous damages in the town.
